There Is Power in Knowledge

In teaching the lessons in God's Word, I have been learning so much that makes my Christian walk alot easier when it comes to wondering why certain things happen.or don't happen. It has made me question myself alot further on my own beliefs. I have been learning that God is not our buddy who grants our every wish.

Instead, He is to be revered and praised because of Who He is and not what I think He should be giving me. Knowing His Word gives me much more confidence in believing that what He says is truth and I just take it at that. I don't ask so many questions, I search for the shortcomings in my own life and then repent that I have been weak in one aspect or another in my walk. I might add, this is not for the faint of heart, it's a long, diligent journey in order to attain the peace and happiness that God longs for all His children to have.

In other words, it's alot of work and I suppose that's what scares many away.Over the past several weeks, I began an in-depth teaching on Hebrews. I started to see how much God wants to reveal to us through His Son Christ.

This is not to be missed. The author of this book was writing to weak minded Jewish Christians. They were being led back into Judaism and believing in the teachings of the Jewish leaders. But, Hebrews is making a point to stress that God went beyond their prophets, and angels, and kings, and all the signs that prophesied the coming Messiah. God did better than all that, He gave us the Messiah in flesh and blood. All these things in the Old Testament were foreshadowings of Christ.

Hebrews is explaining how important it was and still is, to look beyond the shadows and focus on the object. You can't have a shadow without an object to cast one. People today tend to focus on everything else also and miss Jesus as the whole picture of their salvation.

This book is written to reveal Christ and let us have that personal relationship with Him.The author of this book was not trying to confuse it's readers, but he knew he couldn't throw too much at them at once. He did however use their own examples in the Old Testament to prove his point. For example in chapter one the author asked this question.

"For to which of the angels did He ever say, "Thou art My Son, today I have begotten Thee?" And again, "I will be a Father to Him, and He shall be My Son?" And when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He says, "And let all the angels of God worship Him." Heb. 1:5-6.Of all the angels that God used to speak to the people in the Old Testament, there was not one He referred to as His Son.

So, if none of the angels were God's Son, then who could it be? This author was trying to make this point very clear, that it was Christ who fit the bill in every circumstance.Because of their lack of knowledge, they were regarded as being babies in their faith. It occurred to me that we have alot of babies today who refuse to hear God's teachings that will only lead them into maturity. It takes knowledge in order to gain the power we were given in Christ."For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you the elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have come to need milk and not solid food. For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.

But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil." Heb. 5:12-14.As I prepared to do a further teaching on Melchizedek, it was apparent that all the information God gave was going to be overwhelming for some.

But there is no excuse why anyone can't understand it and learn to love it. This information to me is so precious and very much needed. I told God I didn't think people were ready. He laid alot on my heart in regards to that.

He wanted me to tell the people who come out to hear the message on Sundays and neglected to come hear the teachings, that it's time to grow up! If this church is to grow together, then we must also know together. We say the meaning for BIBLE is 'Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth'. I asked them if they treated their own life as merely having 'basic' knowledge or were they intent on learning more in order to gain success in the world? Where do we end up if all we strive for is basic instructions? When it comes to our livelihood, we strive for the best we can be. Why don't we strive to be the best for God then? We cut Him off short. As babies, we all start out on milk and graduate to solid foods and then we start learning more.

This is how we become adults. It's also through experiences that we grow up. But in the word of God, we choose to remain babies, why is that? As I said earlier, is it because it's alot of work to grow up spiritually?.In hearing God's messages on Sunday mornings, we pick out the basic instructions for our own lives such as loving others, controlling our tempers, growing in the fruits of the spirit, communion, baptism, tithing and so on.

What we don't realize is that there are specific reasons behind everything. Unless we search the gold mine of information that God has given us and learn that everything from Genesis on, was planted for our growth into knowing the power we have through our salvation in Christ! It all revolves around Him!.The teaching on Melchizedek is one such lesson that should not be missed. When you realize the whole concept of what God is telling us, it will magnify Him that much more.

In learning and knowing this message, you can really walk in faith, and know that once you give a problem to God, you will never take it back and try to handle it on your own. This is proof that people are not learned enough in God's true word, because if they were, there would not be doubt and disbelief in Him as there is. When we don't get a prayer answered in the time we think it should be, we automatically think that God is not in control and therefore, we must take action.

That is the short coming of so many Christians today. They were never taught the in-depth teachings and if they were given the opportunity, they apparently didn't think it was important enough to get out of bed that early to receive it. And this kind of attitude is not the kind that God can bless.Again God tells us in Hebrews to be forewarned about the mistakes that the Israelites made."Therefore, just as the Holy Spirit says, 'Today if you hear His voice, when they provoked Me, As in the day of trail in the wilderness, Where your fathers tried Me by testing Me, and saw My works for forty years. Therefore I was angry with this generation and said, They always go astray in their heart; and they did not know My ways; as I swore in My wrath, they shall not enter into My rest.

' Take care brethren, lest there should be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart, in falling away from the living God." Heb. 3:7-12.

If we say we believe in God but we just don't trust that He will take care of us, how much more then can we expect Him to do just that? Be careful that you don't fall away from His Word and instructions because He tells us quite clearly how He perceives this kind of attitude. Don't test God by not knowing His word and walking in all His ways.If you have the opportunity to hear His Word through anointed teachers, preachers or pastors, please don't let this pass you by due to a feeling. We can't grow on our feelings. If this article has encouraged you to go deeper with the Lord, please comment and encourage my walk with Him as well.

To keep growing in Christ, keep going to church.
